It should read Superbowl L – Because of marketing and design issues, the NFL decided to ditch the roman numerical system this year. It will return next year for Superbowl 51 which will look like this: Superbowl LI. As a designer, I too have changed the rules a bit to accomplish a design that has balance and flow! This is what I learned, there is no zero in roman numerical system. Multiplication and division is impossible, so how did the Romans undertake some of the world’s most impressive engineering projects using this method of counting? It’s probably because they were designer first then engineers~
