I am a Multipotentialite . . . you’re asking what the hell is that? In simple terms, it means Multipotentialites have a broad range of skills gathered from proven experience and education, not limited to their solution-driven desire for knowledge.
Multipotentialites have been movers, shakers, and out-of-the-box thinkers since the dawn of time. Maybe you’ve heard of some of these people?
Maya Angelou, Gloria Steinem, Jackie O, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Hedy Lamarr, Eleanor Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Beatrice Webb, Beatrix Potter, Leonardo Da Vinci, Julia Child, Geena Davis, Cleopatra, Aristotle, Elizabeth I (Puttylike)
I have more than 30 years of eclectic work experience and expertise that has set the stage for the work I love doing today… simplifying people’s lives, by getting rid of clutter along with creating environments that have function, purpose, and style.
I know what it’s like to be overwhelmed with physical and mental clutter with insufficient time in a day. That’s when it’s essential to find the time to slow it down, it happened to me back in 2012 I was working full time as a Preschool Teacher, filling as Before/After School instructor that fill-in lasted more than a year. I should mention that I also attended college part-time, taking 2 to 3 classes a semester.
When I wasn’t in the classroom as a teacher or student I was working on studying for tests, working on projects, and having to attend other classrooms to observe and participate in creating lesson plans for the student.
I wanted to give everything I had to this dream of being a teacher. And, I did just that until there was nothing left but a 180 lb always tired, wine-drinking social-butterfly woman who had lost her way on the way toward the goals she had visioned.
My house became cluttered, my Jeep’s backseat was stacked with notebooks, books empty lunch totes. My poor dogs at the time were not getting enough time outside, so they took to destroying their little room. The clutter was starting to take over – yes, I was making organized piles all over the home, but I was not making DECISIONS about what to do with the clutter, because truthfully I was so tired all the time even though I was enjoying my job, school along with meeting up with my new younger friends. I didn’t realize I was burning out – physically and mentally.
So, It all started when I went to see my Endocrinologist about the weight I gained in 3 months (over 45lbs) and my exhausted fatigue – yeah it couldn’t have been my schedule. NO….please! He said to me “No Gluten for 21 Days, here’s a list of what you can eat – great to see you I’ll see you in 22 days” Okay, first of all, I sat in the car glancing over this list, and thought omgosh… I didn’t know Dr. lang did not care for me very much LOL I followed the list with the help of my husband and dropped 12lbs in the first 2 weeks. I have been living a Gluten-Free life since that day.
I gave you a few ‘ingredients’ first (chef-wife talk) so now here’s the SOUP of the situation, once I got rid of the inflammation that had taken over my body and brain I was able to see things more clearly. I started to FEEL the trauma of my past for the first time.
The feelings of trauma and hurt that I felt previously I covered up with comfort food, and my ‘drink’ of choice was a mix of bread, and pasta along with wine, mix in some partying and you have a nice cocktail of physical and mental chaos.
It wasn’t until I rid my body and mind of the inflammation and found healthy ways to deal with the trauma. Such as mindful walking, journaling, and writing, along with vision boards to replace all my past poor behavior, the TRUE life that I had envisioned for my husband Julio and myself started to become clear.
So, when I say “I know what you’re going through” I do. Life Coaches and Counselors are not immune to being stressed out or overwhelmed — in fact, far from it. Many say that personal or family experiences with stressful to traumatic situations actually propelled them to become professional coaches.
People who have processed the effects of past trauma — often with the help of a therapist or on their own — can become excellent life coaches and/or counselors, posttraumatic growth and healing from the experience can foster empathy and strengthen coping skills.
Are you looking for a coach that has been through some of the same struggles as you? Well, I’m right here when you decide to take that step to simplify your lifestyle by clearing the clutter.
In my past 26 years of being a Professional Organizer, I have worked towards finding solutions for blended families, families in life transitions, hoarders, and people that just need someone to help find a place to start and keep them motivated.
Let me be that Organizer for you!
