How An Organizer Can Help You During The Holidays

Do you know that period of time between Christmas and New Year?

I always remember as a former House Cleaner,  those days were the busiest, most chaotic, and all schedules “go to hell” week.

  • The kids are acting up, and the pets are acting up.
  • Kids are out of school and ‘jacked up’ on holiday sweets and chocolates
  • The family is visiting, and even though they visit every year they forget where things go so everything is on the stairs it’s a competition ‘who can create the best displays’.
  • Your schedule has remained the same at work during this period, but the schedules at home have gone to hell!
  • You have ribbon all over the place, gifts in boxes scattered all over the floor, the cat is laying on every single wrapping paper it can find, and the dog has cleaned the kitchen island with its tongue . . . someone spread more jelly on the cutting board than the bread.
  • Friends want to stop by to visit your relatives in town, and you can’t find the living room through all the gifts, paper, ribbons, kids, parents, and pets.

That’s where a Lifestyle Organizer comes in – to be those extra hands to help keep your home in that Holiday Spirit to welcome in the New Year. A welcome filled with less stress, organized surroundings, a place where you are comfortable welcoming all that come to your home without worry or anxiety. This year you will probably for the first time truly enjoy YOUR Holiday Season.

Your home is not only your sanctuary during the holidays, but it’s also the stage for many holiday events. Whether you are hosting parties for family and friends, gift wrapping, or decorating your space, we are here to help you create your vision of what the holiday season means to you.

Keeping Your Sanity While Working At Home

The ones that have never worked from home are often surprised to learn just how difficult it can really be … especially if it lasts several months. From distractions to a lack of space, there are a variety of challenges. Add all this to keeping your sanity when working in the same place you live, and you have a situation that can quickly take a turn for the worse. Chaos … Chaotic … Confusion.

But, good news: Here are 3 steps you can take to keep your sanity when working from home. It doesn’t mean everything will go as planned — day in and day out — but you’re at least having a plan for yourself is a way to maintain your sanity.

1. Set Up a Designated Workspace

If you don’t have a designated room; such as a spare bedroom or basement — consider a closet, a corner nook in your larger bedroom, or even your dining room table.

Keep this in mind, designating a workspace and learning space is also important to your children. At school their whole education career is being in rooms that serve a purpose, where everyone has their area and “home” for their items. This first tip will save you a lot of headaches & heartaches!

You know how much space your family will need to work efficiently, so choose your spaces wisely.

2. Talk to Your Family About Boundaries

Also very important, how will you keep your children from barging into your office space while you’re working on an important project? What will you say to your spouse to keep them from calling your name during your Zoom meeting if they need help with something?

Make sure to have someone who helps you stick to your balance, whether that be a spouse, friend, or family member. Just like an exercise routine or family budget, maintaining balance between work and life takes discipline and consistency to be effective. Having an accountability partner can help quite a bit.

3. Take Regular Breaks

No two people are alike when it comes to how many breaks they need, but you should work these into your schedule before your day even begins. Put it right on the family calendar in the morning, where everyone can see it.

Some examples, get into the habit of stepping away from your desk for 15 to 30 minutes – at the least, for meals. Important Tip → you shouldn’t eat at your desk. Sure, you’re getting the fuel you need to press on, but you’re not giving your mind a break.

Whats -in-Whats-out -2

What’s In? Items made by hand using sustainable materials like jute, rice paper, and clay are popular in 2019. I’m seeing people needing these grounding elements in their homes as a way to feel more in touch with the earth and their roots.

What’s Out? When space has too many things going on–to the point where you can barely utilize a surface area for function–it creates chaos. I am a lover of eclecticism, and you’ll see it in a lot of my designs, but what I don’t love, and hope to bid farewell to, is “eclecticism on steroids!”
