grace-changes-everything~ Grace Notes

  1. Living Areas: Determine what your focal point will be – if you don’t have a fireplace, consider a high piece (art canvas picture, decorative tray, or a grouping) to focus your attention and draw you into the room.
  2. Dining Place: Recall your favorite restaurant. Besides the good food, what was it about the ambience that spoke to you that you can recreate in your dining place at home?
  3. Kitchens: Hang a collection of various baskets (use nails without heads – 1.5” brads). Use the baskets for bread, fruit, napkins, and utensils. Be creative and artful when arranging them on the wall.
  4. Homework / Study Area: When we study, we love to lean back in our chair and put our feet up on a footstool (choose one with storage). A stool can also be a convenient place to rest a snack tray.
  5. Bedroom: Always have fresh-cut flowers or flowering plants to create an indoor garden for your private sanctuary. Grab a few bouquets of store-bought fresh flowers, separate them and create a bunch of small bouquets to place throughout the bedrooms – all year-long.

Tidy Can Be Artful!

An organized home doesn’t have to mean white plastic boxes with generic printed labels. Nor does it mean getting rid of ALL YOUR STUFF!

But, unlike other organizing businesses that just focus on declutter. I aim to help my clients find order while interlacing some major style, at times I have had Redesign 101 lessons from my clients . . . I love that kind of connection of learning from each other.

There is a plethora of sharing at CCHC of useful tips and insider shopping resources to streamline your home-style with objects that serve function so you aren’t spending, oh let’s say, 20 minutes every effing morning looking for your keys or glasses! Instead, you’re admiring the objects you do own and using them in a purposeful way.

What I’m trying to say is make room in your life for what you love, and have space to take it in and enjoy it. I’ll give you an example, I love using trays (everywhere) trays give order, they collect small items and give them a home, a grounding place. The dish scrub, dish brush, and dish soap, along with a small vase of fresh flowers — placed on a tray, you suddenly have a small still-life. I always find a home for my trays while using them as a artistic focus of a space at times.

There are so many organizing products available everywhere. It can be confusing and overwhelming.  It’s about size, proportion, color, or should I go clear and so many more choices. In addition you probably have a lot of organizing products at your home that you can reuse like baskets, bins or totes (Please none from the 1980s). I put together a slide show of attractive, functional organizing products to share from two popular and favorite companies.

Gluten-Free Chocolate Cookies

These cookies are on the sweeter side due to all the powdered sugar added in, so make sure to use unsweetened cocoa powder!

Makes 15 cookies

Ingredients: –

2/3 cups unsweetened cocoa powder –

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar –

3 egg whites –

1 tbsp vanilla extract –

1 1/4 cups chocolate chips

*To make them Christmas Festive – melt Nestle Toll House White Chocolate Chips and drizzle over cookies – add christmas sprinkles*

Allow the cookies to set on baking mat, forming a sort of hardened “crust” for 30 minutes before baking. This is a vital step because if not done the cookies will expand too much in the oven

Bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes

ENJOY . . . . . .

How To Use Elephant Skin Color To Stand Out

TREND COLOR SPOTLIGHT: ELEPHANT SKIN

by Quinn Larson

A neutral not to be ignored, Elephant Skin PPU18-16 takes center stage this fall as our November Trend Color Spotlight.

Elephant Skin is a versatile color that is easily coordinated across whites, pastels and saturated tones alike.  Use this warm, midtoned taupe as a feature color on all your walls or as a simple accent.

A little known secret, the richness of color in this neutral comes through beautifully when used in a higher sheen. Try painting it as an interior door or trim color in satin or semigloss for an understated and elegant look.
