I Have News For You . . .

If you’re finding yourself “doing it all” alone, you don’t have to – Reach out for help.

It’s so easy to get in the mindset of checking items off that never ending To-Do list.

Breaking things down into smaller tasks will make it easier to accept and accomplish what needs to get done.

Please release that unrealistic expectation you have of yourself. You are not perfect, you never will be and honestly who the hell wants to be?

There is no such thing as a perfectly balanced life because your life is unique. Having Balance in life may mean something totally different for you then it does to someone else. Rather than a perfectly balanced life, begin to strive for a life that leaves you happy and healthy at the end of the day.

Stop trying to “do it all”. Spend your valuable time on things that matter the most to you!

If that means you sleep in every morning and workout later. Nothing wrong with that!

If that means you start work at 11:00 am. Awesome!

If that means you don’t clean and organize your house and you hire somebody else to do it. Even better!

Ask for help. Create a life that supports your strengths and encourages you to ask for help in the areas that you struggle.

I promise you that if you begin to make decisions based on what makes you happy, your life will transform dramatically. Your time is so precious, don’t waste it doing things that bring you down and no joy.

Are You Up For A Challenge?

Its challenge time 2

This weekend I have a Simple but Powerful Challenge for you ~

You ready? Starting this weekend get rid of 1 pair of shoes that you’re not wearing because of style, fit, color . . . whatever the reason!

If you’re not wearing the shoes . . . if they’re not bringing you JOY get rid of them.

Give them away, consign them, toss them,  just make a decision about 1 pair of shoes this weekend. I was going to go a little drastic on this and say 2 pairs . . . but, one pair is enough for now.

How is this powerful? Because, just doing something small, a little tiny step toward the direction of a goal is Powerful.

If you get rid of 1 pair of shoes from now until the first summer weekend ( that’s comes to 13 pairs of shoes).  You will then find more room in your closet for the things you truly need and bring you JOY!

Remember an organizer is skilled to help keep you motivated towards the goal of “clearing clutter” throughout home or office.

Today I’m Going Teach! Because That’s What I Am . . .

Teacher Quote 1

A Few Things I Learned From Teaching:

When you were young did you?

  • Cry for no reason? Be the person that holds a child until the crying stops.
  • Did you get in trouble? Be that unconditional support when a child is in need of structure and discipline.
  • Did you have a temper?kick and hit? Be that person that sits and listens and gives hugs instead of lectures.

When we see a child that has lost control on the outside with hitting others, themselves, throwing objects, kicking, spitting, swearing. What they are portraying on the outside is nothing compared to how they feel about themselves on the inside. Trust me when I say I know it’s hard in those moments of ‘fits’, when you really want to run away from the child, but that is the time when the child needs you the most. Just sit wait for it to pass by making sure the child is safe, the area is safe, defuse the situation by using calming words in a calm tone. I know this helps, it is something I had to learn as a new teacher when I first entered into the classroom. It going to save you a lot of heartache and headache when you learn to accept the child for who they are at different levels of ages and stages of their life, rather then trying to make the situation easy for you as a teacher.

Music For The Soul . . . or Naptime!

I would bring into the classroom all different genres of music. Our students came to school at very early morning hours, we would listen to classical music as we worked on a puzzle or a painting. We introduced them to Beethoven, Mozart, Bach (“back” that’s how some students pronounced it!Lol) their favorite was a couple of recent composers George & Ira Gershwin. The students that loved the classical sounds, most of them rode to school every morning with the music  of vulgar language, loud bass sounds that vibrated the whole car. It was so bad that the Principal of our School would be out in the parking lot every morning trying to educate parents of the dangers of listening to music at such a high level. Listening that loud to any kind of music is not good for your hearing, especially for little ones. My little students really appreciated the different sounds of music I brought into the classroom – try it! You’ll be surprised. . . .

Teacher Tip:

Here is a tip that was shared with me, and I have shared with other paraprofessionals, consultants and sub teachers in the past. I had a position where I had several centers a day that I assisted. I had a folder for each one, I printed the schools logo with name – address – classrooms numbers on each designated folder. I kept them in my tote bag, ready to use and update daily. It was a great time saver, and kept me flexible within my position.

Be creative . . . .

Dump-and-Go Meatball Lasagna

Dump-and-Go Meatball Lasagna

Are You Trying To Do It All? Why?

Why use a concierge service? Because trying to “do it all” is really hard…and stressful.

Like, trying to get to your kid’s soccer game (before it’s over!) when you still have to get across town to the dry cleaners before they close.

Or, trying to get a plumber for the clogged sink in the kitchen when you’re already running late to a business meeting.

Does This All Sound Familiar?

I get it, the constant pull you live with and the feelings of overwhelm, guilt, inadequacy and frustration that comes with it all.

Home and Business Concierges can help you with life, not just your lists!

I Help Make Decisions ~

I have clients ask me “do you ever see the mess, dirt and trash when you go into people’s cluttered homes?” I always reply with “Nope, I just see a whole lot of decisions not made.” The reasons people continue to have a relationship with their clutter is many. In the last 25 years of organizing homes and offices, I found that many times people just don’t know what to do with their stuff. I have seen some great “Start & Stop” processes in my coaching, you know where someone did take the time to organize all the mail sitting in a mound on the far end of the kitchen counter. But, then it becomes overwhelming and doing nothing seems more reasonable then deciding on the right place to put something. You just need to make a decision . . . right or wrong it doesn’t matter.

You know you have this person in your circle of family & friends – don’t lie!

The ones that has that cookie tin in their hands, the tin with the really cute picture of a kitten and snowman looking adorable. They are thinking maybe someone in the family can use it? Maybe they will use it next Christmas. They walk it around the house trying to find that perfect home for it, taking it and fitting it in the bookcase – damn it’s just a little too wide. Then, they try to put it on a table, it doesn’t look right with the Spring decor. Then they see a spot, they pick up speed as they dash across the room to the same exact freakin’ spot they took it from. So, now we know where the new home is – It’s called “Indecision Island” where all the misfits of the clutter end up, it’s really called the kitchen table!

Getting There

Make decisions in small, daily steps to clean and organize a space. Pick a small space like the kitchen table or one kitchen counter, keep consistent with daily small organizing tasks. One tool I have used with my clients is once the space is organized, clean it – make it sparkle. That small task will give you a sense of accomplishment and boost your mental health.

Make a Decision Today, Don’t be the person carrying the cookie tin around the house!

Motivating Music

I use this video to write by in the mornings. It’s very motivating to the rhythm in my soul, I hope it is for you too!

********************************

Monday Meal:

Ingredients

SERVINGS: 4
  • 1 pound pizza dough ({I use my fail-proof pizza dough recipe})
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (or as much as you like)
  • 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (thinly)
  • pizza toppings (any other, your little heart desires)
  • Italian seasoning (to taste)

Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 375. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
2. Cut pizza dough into quarters and then each quarter into 8, so you end up with 32 small dough pieces. Arrange randomly in a circle leaving about 1/4-1/2 inch between each dough piece so they have room to expand. Spoon and spread pizza sauce over dough, top with cheese, pepperoni and any other toppings you’d like. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and bake 15 minutes or until the dough is cooked completely {especially in the center!} Serve.
